Though there are several Anthony's locations in the Northwest, the one on the Des Moines waterfront is truly special, offering gorgeous views of Puget Sound and two different dining experiences: fine dining in the main restaurant inside, and a more casual, summery atmosphere on the deck.

There's almost no kind of seafood you can't get here, and it's all expertly prepared and beautifully plated. Start your meal with a round of fresh, local clams, mussels, or oysters to share. Founded by a Tokyo-trained chef, Tukwila's Miyabi Sushi has been a local favorite for more than 20 years, winning The Seattle Times' People's Choice Awards multiple times. In addition to serving dependably delicious Japanese cuisine, it's one of those restaurants that somehow pulls off feeling both casual and elevated. While you'll see plenty of families enjoying hearty combo meals, you can also make it a special-occasion spot by ordering premium sashimi and craft cocktails, or the full omakase course, which includes all of the restaurant's signature sushi and izakaya-style dishes.

You can choose from a large sushi menu, which includes special rolls like the Mt. Rainier, named for its "peak" of crab salad, which tops a tempura-style tuna and avocado roll, or the signature Miyabi, which combines tuna, salmon, and crab salad. There are also 25 different kinds of sashimi, available in large combo platters.

Blue Fish Sushi

Blue Fish Sushi, opened in 2026, is a family-owned neighborhood gem tucked away in the Des Moines Marina District, just a few minutes from the Puget Sound waterfront. Like Miyabi, it pairs a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with gourmet Japanese classics made with fresh, high-quality fish. There's a traditional sushi bar where rolls are made to order, and plenty of seating in the dining area. One thing that makes this restaurant stand out is the care put into the artful presentation and fresh flower garnishes, which make any meal feel special. The beautifully plated bento boxes come with plenty to share. We loved the Rainier Sake Box, which comes with an assortment of salmon sushi and nigiri surrounding a martini glass of salmon poke salad with fresh cucumber salad. We also loved the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, served with spicy mayo, eel sauce, and tobiko.

Sushi Omiya

Best For: Quick lunches, budget-friendly meals

Standout Seafood Dish: Rainbow Roll

When it comes to sushi, you can't find faster service than at Sushi Omiya in Tukwila. Our team stopped by this casual restaurant on a lunch break one day, and we loved that you could sit down and immediately grab rolls and apps from the conveyor belt. There was a steady stream of customers the entire time we were there, and it's easy to see why. The food was very affordable, with more than 20 kinds of rolls (each with four pieces) for under five dollars. The large, colorful murals on the wall and the ever-changing, ever-moving selection of sushi rotating by your table lend the experience a fun, whimsical feel.

Trapper's Sushi

Best For: Happy hour, family-friendly meals, post-shopping breaks

Standout Dish: Mt. Rainier Roll

Washington restaurant Trapper's Sushi Co. was founded in Bonney Lake and grew so popular that it expanded throughout the state. The Westfield Southcenter location is located right at the south parking lot, so you can breeze in without entering the mall, or time your meal to cap off a shopping spree. On the expansive menu, you'll find a lot of unique, regionally-inspired rolls and modern twists on traditional sushi. For instance, the Mt. Rainier roll combines crystal shrimp with spicy sauce, tuna, salmon, spicy scallops, and teriyaki sauce.

For a great deal, take advantage of the value items, like the All-You-Can-Eat option available for both lunch and dinner, or the terrific happy hour deals, such as half-off the entire bar menu.

The Des Moines location is within walking distance of Highline College and the Kent Des Moines Link light rail stop, and a short drive from Saltwater State Park, making it a convenient (and fitting) option for a day at the beach.

Peekaboo Poke & Tea

Standout Dish: Build-Your-Own Poke Bowl

Peekaboo Poke & Tea at Westfield Southcenter is a great option for a quick lunch at the mall. This local business makes fresh, customizable poke bowls alongside a selection of sushi favorites. You can build your own bowl with fresh fish, shrimp, scallop, or crispy tofu, then top it off with a mix of sweet and savory, chewy and crunchy ingredients. We recommend fresh mango, spicy crab salad, tempura crunches, and citrus ponzu sauce.

This spot also has sushi, specializing in gunkan, a style of sushi that features a small, hand-pressed oval of rice wrapped in a strip of dried seaweed (nori). The nori creates a "boat" or "battleship" shape.
