5 Top Fall Activities In and Around Seattle Southside
When I think of fall or the month of October, I think of staying cozy, sipping hot drinks, exploring haunted houses and pumpkin patches, and anything else that can be pretty relaxing (other than getting chased by clowns through a haunted house…that’s the only exception).
I know it can be upsetting having to transition away from a nice, hot, adventure-filled summer, but when you discover all the things to do in Seattle Southside during the cooler months, transitioning to fall won't be a problem at all!
What are the fun things to do in the fall in Seattle Southside?
Haunted Houses
Many jumptastic scares can be found in and around Seattle Southside. Start with the Haunted Chocolate Factory Tour at Seattle Chocolate for a real "trick-or-treat" experience. Next, walk through the Georgetown Morgue Haunted House, or Fright Fest at Wild Waves Theme Park which also features some chilling thrill rides. Whatever type of haunted house you fancy, there’s various options located just nearby. Looking for something in the Halloween spirit but a bit less scary? The Museum of Fright is an educational and spooky version of the wonderful Museum of Flight. We've put together a list of a few different Halloween haunts and events on our blog if you're looking for more Halloween fun!

Go Shopping!
It’s time to officially put away your shorts, tank tops, and sunglasses and get ready for the cooler weather coming our way. Things you need to stock up on for our chilly autumn season include a new pair of boots, scarves, gloves, hats, thicker blankets, portable heaters, and sure, a pumpkin spice latte will suffice. Whatever you need for this fall, you can get at Westfield Southcenter, guaranteed.

Sports Paradise: Football, Baseball, and Hockey!
October is the most wonderful time of the sporting year. You have postseason baseball, football season in full swing for both professional football and college football, and hockey season is just beginning. When you stay in Seattle Southside, getting to all of these venues is a breeze! Get to Mariners and Seahawks games on the Link Light Rail and get off at the Stadium station for an easy gameday experience. Are you in town to watch the Huskies at the University of Washington? The University of Washington Link station lets you out right in front of the stadium! If you're more of an ice hockey person, you've got two easily accessible venues from public transit. Take the Link light rail to Northgate to visit the Kraken Community Iceplex and watch practices before the game, or get out on the ice yourself. And on game day, you can easily transfer to a bus from any of the downtown stations that will take you to Climate Pledge Arena, or for even more fun, get off at the Westlake station and ride the Seattle Monorail to Seattle Center.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch
There’s quite a few pumpkin patches located all throughout Washington State. Some are local, like Carpinito Brothers in Kent and Mosby Farms in Auburn, both located only a few miles from Seattle Southside, or you can take a road trip a few hours out if you desire to get farmlands full of pumpkins. Bring the family along with you and explore what each farm has to offer. Some even include fun corn-mazes!

Go for a Run/Walk/Ride
Fall is the perfect time for a walk or run because the air is fresh and crisp. This is especially true along some of our favorite trails like Des Moines Creek and the Interurban Trail. Take some time to relax, enjoy nature, and explore all the different leaves you find that have fallen, while you hear them crunch as you walk.
