A Holiday-Themed Itinerary for Your Seattle Southside Visit

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

There are plenty of gifts to be bought, delicious meals to be eaten and fun to be had in Seattle Southside. Get holly and jolly with this holiday-themed itinerary for a weekend vacay or staycay.

Day 1

Start the day with breakfast at your hotel, or grab coffee and a small bite at one of many delicious cafes nearby. The region is a global culinary hub, and our coffee culture reflects that. After breakfast, take a trip to The Museum of Flight, the world's largest independent non-profit air and space museum. There's plenty to see in the enormous, well-curated galleries. You’ll have a blast at the museum exploring WWI and WWII fighter planes, flight simulators, and an original Air Force One. There are also tons of things to do for kids. Don't forget to check out the gift shop before you head out.

After your aerospace journey, head to Marugame Udon at Westfield Southcenter for a quick, affordable lunch that'll have you feeling warm and satisfied. Based in Japan, this restaurant group serves authentic udon noodles made fresh in the restaurant. Rich, savory broth and fresh noodles create the perfect winter meal. Plus, you can be in and out in under an hour, and get a filling meal for less than $20.

After lunch, head inside Westfield Southcenter, the largest shopping center in the Pacific Northwest. Here you’ll find dozens of boutique and big box stores, an AMC theater, Santa photo opportunities, and plenty of holiday cheer. There's even a bowling alley, Round1 Bowling & Arcade, where you can spend hours having fun and playing arcade games.

Finally, enjoy a classic Italian dinner at Grazie Ristorante in Tukwila, a local favorite that's been serving authentic pasta and Italian entrees since 1988. The festive ambience just feels right during the holiday season. Finish your meal by making selections from the dessert tray, choosing from treats such as cannoli, tiramisu, and cheesecake. Day 2

Start your second day with a hot chocolate or seasonal latte and a breakfast sandwich at Auntie Irene's, a cozy neighborhood spot in the charming Des Moines Marina District. Then, if the weather permits, head down to Des Moines Beach Park for a seaside stroll. Be sure to check out the fascinating public art displayed throughout the marina next to the park. Or, if you'd rather do something indoors, spend a day playing games at Waterland Arcade, a retro arcade where you can easily pass hours.

Wind down your final day with a relaxing massage or facial at The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge. Located on a luxury resort that feels like an urban oasis, this spa is one of the best in the region. You'll feel incredibly pampered, as you should on vacation!

If you noticed the restaurant at Cedarbrook Lodge before or after your spa treatment, you might have been interested enough to stay for dinner. A wise choice. Copperleaf Restaurant is the “quintessentially Northwest” farm-to-table restaurant. It has a refined yet cozy lodge feel, with a giant fireplace and natural light. Having dinner here will make for an elegant end to your holiday getaway.
