Celebrate PRIDE this Summer in Seattle Southside!
Coming to town this June to celebrate Pride?
Stay in a Seattle Southside hotel for a great price and easy access to all the events! The events downtown are easily accessible by light rail/monorail from Seattle Southside. But why limit yourself to just one amazing event when you can celebrate Pride all month long in Seattle Southside?
Pride in Burien
Fortunately, the Pride festivities aren’t limited to Seattle proper. In fact, before the Seattle Pride festivities kick off, Burien is once again hosting a weekend-long Pride celebration this weekend, June 3rd through 5th. Friday kicks the weekend off with a dance party in the streets of downtown Burien from 5-11PM. Saturday the 4th is the main festival, with live music, vendors, and a kids' area from 10AM-11PM. Pride in Burien wraps up Sunday morning from 10AM-2PM with drag queen bingo and a pancake breakfast. Learn more about Burien Pride here!
Waterland Pride
Be a part of history as the first ever Waterland Pride celebration kicks off Saturday, June 25th in Des Moines! The festivities begin with the Rainbow Run, held in conjunction with the weekly Des Moines Parkrun, which is held every Saturday at 9AM at Des Moines Beach Park. Following the run, participants can head to the DeNevea Designs booth at the Waterfront Farmers Market in the Des Moines Marina to pick up Pride T-shirts and flags and shop the market. Waterfront Pride kicks off at the Quarterdeck in the Marina at 11AM, and is a family (and dog!) friendly event! Evening festivities start for the grown-up crowd with dinner and drinks at A Bite Out beginning at 5PM at Dat Creole Soul, which is a 21-and-up event. Both the Quarterdeck and Dat Creole Soul will be offering discounts on food and beverages if you're wearing a t-shirt from the event, so make sure you pick one up earlier in the day at the Farmer's Market!
Pride Flags at Highline Heritage Museum
Do you know your flag history? At the Highline Heritage Museum this month through August is an exhibit showing LGBTQIA+ pride flags throughout history, explaining their origins, meanings, and significance. If you've ever wondered why specific color combinations were chosen, now's your chance to find out! The flags are on display in the window facing 152nd Street at the museum. After you've learned your flag history, stay and visit with the museum to learn more about local history!
Tasveer Pride Open Mic
Celebrate Pride through the lens of South Asian culture with Tasveer's Pride-themed open mic night on June 23rd at 6PM. Not only is this a free event, you can also join from the comfort of home, since this is an online open mic. Tasveer is a Seattle-based organization with the goal of amplifying South Asian voices in media through film, storytelling, and literature. All are welcome to this month's open mic celebrating Pride, though only South Asians and/ or anyone with South Asian content (LGBTQIA+ focused) are asked to perform. Signups are available here.
Seattle Pride
The Seattle Pride Parade and Festival returns after a two year hiatus for its 48th year! The parade kicks off on June 26th at 11 AM from Westlake Park, which is a quick light rail trip from Seattle Southside hotels. It continues on until 3 PM and winds its way down 4th Avenue to Seattle Center and the Space Needle, where a large festival awaits with vendors, food, performances and more that runs until 8PM. The parade is only one of the many Pride events in downtown Seattle. Check out our event calendar for all upcoming Seattle events!
