Art Show & All-District Jazz Festival

The Auburn Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce the first annual MERGE ART SHOW, which will be featured in our lobby the evening of the All-District Jazz Band Festival Wednesday, May 24, 2023. MERGE is the materialization of collaborative efforts between the school’s strong electives departments. Through hard work and cooperation, our efforts MERGE to make this dynamic event possible.

Guests will enjoy original art created by Auburn High School’s drawing, painting and jewelry students; art will be displayed on newly fashioned racks, designed by the AHS metals/welding department and installed by the Auburn School District Maintenance Team. Take part in a special ceremony to reveal a new lobby mural – “Creative Heartbeat.” The mural was conceptualized and painted by AHS painting students and captures the joy and energy of the Auburn School District Theatres. All guests will be treated to the school year’s musical highlight as the evening culminates with the All-District Jazz Band Festival.

“When I became director just under a year ago, this project seemed very ambitious. To see MERGE come together so quickly because of the collaborative efforts of so many departments, borne out of passion for the arts and music, is so very fulfilling,” remarked Carol Smetheram, ASD Theatres Managing Director.
MERGE demonstrates that Art and Music can connect us to each other, to truth, to joy and to life.

MERGE Art Show opens to the public at 5pm May 24, 2023. All-District Jazz Band Festival begins at 7pm.
