The Museum of Flight recognizes Veterans Day with a short musical performance by the Boeing Employees Concert Band and ceremony at 12:00 PM featuring our 2019 Keynote Speaker, Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, color guard, and remarks from local city and Museum officials.
During the celebration, representatives of Marysville Ford, Wells Fargo and Military Warriors Support Foundation will present a payment-free vehicle to retired U.S. Army Sergeant Matt Watters in honor of his service and sacrifice. The vehicle donation is made possible by Maryville Ford and Wells Fargo through Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program.
About Sergeant Watters
Sergeant Watters joined the military in 1997 and after completing Basic Training, Airborne School and Ranger Indoctrination Program in 1998, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis, Washington. Sergeant Watters reenlisted in 2001 after the attacks of 9/11 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002, where he was wounded while supporting combat operations and is the recipient of the Purple Heart. Sergeant Watters also received the Combat Action Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, among other awards. Today, he lives in Sumner, Washington with his family.
