Lake to Sound Trail
The Lake to Sound Trail is a dynamic, multi-use trail connecting the cities of South King County. Parts of the trail are still under construction, but as of 2025, one completed segment of the trail stretches from the southern end of Burien to the Des Moines Creek Trail and the waterfront, creating seven miles of continuous, non-motorized trail. When the full trail is completed, it will run from the southern tip of Lake Washington in Renton to Des Moines—hence the name 'Lake to Sound'!"
Highlights:
Expanded Accessibility: The 2.2-mile paved segment completed in 2025 extends from near South 200th Street in SeaTac to the Des Moines Creek Trail, creating a continuous trail system that improves non-motorized travel options across city boundaries. Combined with the Des Moines Creek Trail, it creates seven miles of paved pathway.
Multi-Use Friendly: Ideal for walking, running, biking, and rolling, the Lake to Sound Trail is built for everyone, from daily commuters to weekend wanderers and nature seekers.
Scenic Variety: The route winds through lush green spaces, wetlands, and quiet residential corridors, showcasing the environmental diversity of Seattle Southside and offering a tranquil escape into nature.
Eco-Friendly Design: Thoughtfully designed with gentle slopes and sturdy surfaces, the trail improves stormwater drainage and minimizes environmental impact while enhancing community livability.
