Seattle Southside is famous for being a destination filled with activities the whole family will enjoy.

Spring break is the perfect time to take the kids on a vacation (or staycation) and get in some fun. Summer still feels a ways off, but there's plenty of fun both indoors (we know what to do just in case it rains) and out. Here is a list of our favorite spring break activities in Seattle Southside.

9. MaST Center Aquarium

The Marine Science and Technology Center (MaST) is home to over 250 native Puget Sound aquatic species. It’s a great place for kids to learn about marine biology and see our local marine life up close and personal. Plus, it’s free to visit MaST Center on Saturdays from 12:00pm-2:00pm for Discovery Day! After your day at the aquarium, you can enjoy a lovely walk along the Redondo Beach Pier and Boardwalk.

8. Des Moines Beach Park

A local favorite, Des Moines Beach Park is often seen as the quintessential “hidden gem” of Seattle Southside. It’s a lovely park with walking trails, picnic tables, and a huge beach that's great for shell searching (depending on the tide). Plus, there’s no better place for sunset along Puget Sound than at the end of the dock at Des Moines Beach Park...except maybe from the Quarterdeck at Des Moines Marina, located next to the park, where the grownups can enjoy a sip of wine to toast the setting sun.

7. SyKart

SyKart is a high-octane go-karting experience typically reserved for adults with a valid driver’s license. However, they also have a Rookie track for all drivers over 8 years old and more than 50" tall. This massive indoor track should satisfy the whole family’s need for speed as the powerful go-karts traverse the winding, curvy course!

6. Bowlero South Seattle

Who doesn’t love a game of bowling? Bowlero is the largest bowling alley in the area, home to 40 state-of-the-art lanes, plenty of billiards and shuffleboard tables, an arcade, a wide variety of hot and delicious food and a full bar. Plus, the lights go out at night on weekends and the lanes turn to a shade of interstellar blue for cosmic bowling!

5. Round 1

Sitting on the second floor of the backside of Westfield Southcenter is the epicenter of Japanese entertainment in Seattle Southside. Round 1 has a bowling alley, a sprawling arcade, karaoke and tons of food and drinks. Bowl a round or two and then race the family in a game of Mario Kart! They're especially known for their huge collection of bemani games, Japanese rhythm games similar to Dance Dance Revolution. If you're especially musically inclined (or even if you're not) karaoke is always a ton of fun and is sure to spark memories for years to come.

4. The Museum of Flight

The Museum of Flight is home to the largest private collection of space and airplanes in the world! They have fighter jets, an original Air Force One, shuttle trainers, stealth jets and so much more. If you’re worried about it being too museum-y for the kids, don’t be! There are great cockpit experiences and flight simulators that everyone will love, no matter how young or old.

3. iFLY: Indoor Skydiving

This is one that should be on your bucket list. Indoor skydiving at iFLY combines the sensation of jumping out of an airplane without the need for a parachute! The ten-story vertical wind tunnel takes you to the sky in a safe environment, to get that pure adrenaline rush without the fear of anything going wrong. If you think your kids are too young for such an experience (or you’re too old), think again! iFLY caters to ages 3-103.

2. DEFY

Do your kids (or you?) dream of becoming a gymnast, basketball star, or ninja? Do you want to do parkour? Well, at DEFY you can perform incredible feats like those atheletes...with a little help. They have trampolines, foam pits, basketball hoops, obstacle courses, and more, so kids can get all their energy out and parents can feel like a kid again!
