The sun has made its valiant return to the Pacific Northwest and now is the time to make the most of it! Here at the Seattle Southside RTA, we like to take our local hotel staffers out on regular familiarization (FAM) tours of the area so that they can experience the attractions and restaurants for themselves. A week ago, our friends at Shuttle Express picked us up from the SSRTA headquarters and took us to the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden and California Pizza Kitchen for lunch.
The Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden was quite beautiful on such a sunny day. The colorful flowers and landscaped gardens create a soothing, Zen environment. Visitors are often surprised that such a thing exists within a mile of the airport, and some of the hotel staffers were surprised as well.
My favorite area of the garden was the Seike Japanese Garden, where you truly feel as if you’ve been transported to Shinjuku, Japan. Curved bridges, running water, stone steps and beautiful flowers make this specific spot one of my favorites in all of Seattle Southside.
After the garden tour, we hopped back on the Shuttle Express bus and headed to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. CPK management took care of us with plenty of sample dishes from their menu. Although their pies are delicious, it’s much more than just pizza! We had avocado egg rolls, BBQ chicken chopped salad, chicken piccata, shrimp scampi, strawberry shortcake and much more. With plenty of great menu options and several fruity drink options, CPK seems to be a great option for summer lunch or dinner.
Over 30 hotel staffers came along for the tour and got to experience some of the highlights of our destination. Many had never been to the gardens or to California Pizza Kitchen, and it seemed that everyone enjoyed their time! Would you like to come along for our next FAM tour?
