On February 26th Seattle Southside unveiled the new Visitor Center at Westfield Southcenter.
Set up began around 2:00pm with the crew from the Prop Gallery. Stanchions and balloons were setup to create the area where guest could mingle and snack on appetizers.
To create a sense of mystery and surprise the Visitor Center was covered with a blue curtain. As shoppers walked by, intrigue grew and everyone was curious about what was going to be happening in the space.
The photographers from Elite Fotobooth soon arrived and set up a fun and interactive photo booth including props and photos that printed out automatically.
With the photo booth located near the temporary wall containing giant post cards and a huge world map encouraging visitors to place a pin on their home towns, there was a lot of fun to be had by the public as well.
DJ Kryspin arrived shortly after and began setting up his booth to entertain the crowds with fun, upbeat music.
By 4:30 a large crowd had developed and they were anxiously waiting for the big event to begin.
The Museum of Flight astronaut, ACME Bowling, Billiards & Events bowlers and an iFLY flight instructor went up to the curtain with Carol Kolson, Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce President & CEO to begin the festivities.
Carol welcomed the audience to the new Visitor Center and Westfield Southcenter Mall and introduced Andrew Ciarrocchi, Westfield Southcenter General Manager. Andrew talked about how the Visitor Center was developed and how it will help visitors at the mall.
Katherine Kertzman, Seattle Southside Visitor Services Executive Director, thanked everyone who contributed to the Visitor Center concept, creation and opening.
De’Sean Quinn, City of Tukwila Council President, discussed the benefits of public and private partnerships and the benefits of tourism.

After the ribbon cutting, guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres provided by Duke's Chowder House, a sparkling cider toast and DJ Kryspin's tunes.
The photo booth was jammed packed with everyone from city council members to business associates to shoppers posing for photos with each other and with the local celebrities. Click here to see the photo booth images.
Thank to all who attended the event. If you haven't been to the new Visitor Center, stop by and say hi!
The Visitor Center is located on the first floor of the southwest corner of the mall between Sears and Lady Footlocker. Currently, the operating hours are the same as mall hours, excluding extended holiday hours.
