It’s easy to get lost in the independent, international dining scene of Seattle Southside, but it may not be what the kids are craving. Don’t worry, there are plenty of family-friendly restaurants to please those picky eaters. Here are just a few of our favorites:

Bullwinkle’s Restaurant

Family Fun CenterOkay, this one is a clear winner for obvious reasons. I mean, it’s in the Family Fun Center! After the kids get all their energy out bowling, laser tagging, go-karting, bumper boating, batting caging, etc., they can sit down with the rest of the family at Bullwinkle’s restaurant for pizza or mini corn dogs. Of course, there are plenty of other options including a sourdough cheeseburger, thai chicken salad, or a chicken Caesar wrap, but you better save room for dessert. The lava cake sundae and churro platter will give the kids just the right sugar kick to get back to the arcade.

California Pizza Kitchen

What kind of kid doesn’t love pizza? California Pizza Kitchen offers unique and delicious pizza, and if there happens to be someone in the family that doesn’t love pizza, they’ve got soups, salads, steaks, fish, chicken, pasta and plenty of other options. For parents, the drink menu is quite extensive and to top it all off, they have a great dessert menu with everything from salted caramel pudding to key lime pie.

The Old Spaghetti Factory

If it isn’t broke…The Old Spaghetti Factory has been a family favorite in the Seattle area for half a century and for good reason. The charming atmosphere of the restaurant is awe-inspiring for kids (try to get seated in the trolley!) and the classic Italian flavors never seem to get old. Kids will love their signature mizithra cheese and browned butter pasta and a side of some delicious Sicilian garlic cheese bread. To end your meal on a high note, everyone gets a scoop of chocolate or colorful spumoni ice cream.

Mizu Japanese Steakhouse

Mizu Japanese RestaurantDinner and a show! Hibachi-style restaurants are fun for the whole family. Mizu’s skillful chefs cook your meal right at your table, with plenty of spatula flipping, jokes, fire, and seasoning to send everyone home with a smile. The meat and veggies are quite flavorful, and the experience makes this Mizu a favorite with kids.

Bahama Breeze

An island paradise awaits in Bahama Breeze! At least, that’s what it feels like. Bring the family for an evening of tropical spices and flavors, vibrant drinks and maybe even some live island music! The kid’s menu doesn’t disappoint, either…kids will feast on mac ‘n cheese and chicken tenders, while parents relax and sip Bahamaritas.

Red Robin

Mouth-watering burgers, ice cold milkshakes, activity sheets for kids…what more could you want in a family restaurant? Most of us are familiar enough with Red Robin know that it’s a go-to restaurant to bring the family. There just so happen to be two of them in Seattle Southside (one in Tukwila and the other in Des Moines), so you’ve always got a safe choice nearby.

Wally’s Chowder House

Wally's fish and chipsTripAdvisor’s #1 restaurant in Des Moines is a must-try for seafood lovers. It also happens to be a great spot for kids. Even if they don’t like fish and chips or crab cakes, there’s a great little kid’s menu featuring hamburgers, PB & J’s, grilled cheese, and more. Plus, they have scrumptious root beer floats that everyone can get on board with.
