Starfire Sports, a non-profit corporation dedicated to inspiring, encouraging and empowering youth-participation in soccer, today announced the first major competition to be held in their 2000 seat championship soccer stadium at the world-class Tukwila soccer complex at Fort Dent Park. The Liga Hispana championships, most recently held at Seahawks Stadium, will determine the champions of Latino Soccer in 3 divisions on Sunday, November 30th.

Liga Hispana is the largest Hispanic league in the Northwest with over 1200 adults playing in 3 divisions. The end of the season championships typically draws teams, their family and fans from throughout the Puget Sound region for this biannual event.

“This is like coming home for Liga Hispana,” said Exequiel Soltero president of Liga Hispana, “For many years the league played our games and championships at Fort Dent Park, but we never dreamed that someday the park would become this beautiful. It was great to play our championships in Seahawks Stadium, but these facilities will give our players and fans a true soccer atmosphere.

“Starfire Sports is pleased to have our first major competition be the Liga Hispana Championships,” said Chris Slatt, chairman and chief executive officer of Starfire Sports, “Our two organizations worked together on a couple of projects this past summer and Starfire looks forward to working with Liga Hispana for many years to come.”

This will be the inaugural event for the renovated championship stadium that will feature newly covered grandstands with perma-plank seating, wheel chair accessibility, concession stands, press box and Pro Star full video scoreboard.

“The soccer stadium will be the jewel of the entire complex,” according to Mark Winward, marketing director of Starfire Sports, “ It is truly a world-class soccer venue that will be host to a number of key events at all levels of the game including youth championships, college tournaments and even pro matches.”

The Starfire Sports outdoor facility will offer eight soccer fields, four of which will be FIELDturf including the 2000-seat stadium that will serve as a centerpiece for youth and adult regional tournaments. This spring, phase two of the complex will be complete and include an 80,000 square-foot athletic center with two indoor FIELDturf fields, locker rooms, a weight training gym, a team meeting and film study room, physical therapy and sports massage facilities, a pro shop and game room, food court and lounge, community meeting rooms and an Internet-connected study hall.
