Well-liked Seattle Southside attractions take home some top honors as the Best of Western Washington viewer poll reports the 2006 winners. The Family Fun Center, Rainforest Café, ACME Bowling, Billiards & Events and Bahama Breeze were just some of the Southside favorites voted the best in their category by Western Washington residents through the 14th annual viewer poll conducted by KING 5 television and Evening Magazine.

Taking home First Place and voted Best Place for Family Fun in Western Washington was The Family Fun Center in Tukwila. Located at the I-5/I-405 Interchange, this 8-acre park is open 365 days a year and houses plenty of indoor and outdoor attractions for all ages. The park welcomes over 600,000 visitors annually.

While only being open for about seven months, Tukwila’s ACME Bowling, Billiards & Events took home Second Place for Western Washington’s Best Bowling Alley. Opening in November 2005, ACME Bowl has created a place for itself with its 40 bowling lanes, seven billiards tables, private bowling VIP room, restaurant, lounge, state-of-the-art audio visual set-up and more.

For the second year in a row, Rainforest Café was voted First Place for Western Washington’s Best Themed Restaurant. Located at Westfield Southcenter, Rainforest Café has an interior atmosphere that mimics that of a rainforest, animals and all. With a menu to match the rainforest theme, it was also voted Fourth Place for Best Kid’s Restaurant.

Other winners with locations in the Southside include: Salty’s restaurant with a location on Redondo Beach in Des Moines, second place for Best All-You-Can-Eat Buffet, fifth place for Best Seafood and third place for Best Outdoor Dining; Caveman Kitchen in Kent, third place for Best Single Location BBQ; Bahama Breeze in Tukwila, third place for Best Themed Restaurant; Claim Jumper’s (Tukwila), fourth place for Best Themed Restaurant and first place for Most Outrageous Dessert; Gene Juarez (Tukwila), first place for Best Spa; and Zoopa’s in Tukwila, third place for Healthiest Restaurant.
