Seattle, Wash. (April 23, 2012) – Seattle Southside Visitor Services (www.seattlesouthside.com), the official tourism department for the Cities of Tukwila, SeaTac, Kent and Des Moines, will host the Reunion Friendly Network, a national organization dedicated to educating veteran military reunion planners, on Wednesday, April 25 – Saturday, April 28, 2012. Seattle Southside has partnered with Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport, Seattle Airport Marriott, Embassy Suites, Red Lion Seattle Airport, The Museum of Flight, Space Needle, Argosy Cruises & Tillicum Village, Starline Luxury Coaches, Seattle Express, and Tours Northwest. Exhibitors and Military Reunion Planners from all over the United States will be present.

“We are excited to welcome the Reunion Friendly Network back to Seattle Southside as well as showcase our region as the perfect home base for military reunions,” said Katherine Kertzman, Director of Seattle Southside Visitor Services. “We saw such positive results from the 2010 Conference and Familiarization Tour and are glad to continue to strengthen our relationship with reunion planners.”

The four-day event will familiarize military reunion planners with Seattle Southside as a “reunion friendly” destination for future reunions, highlighting the many local attractions of the greater Puget Sound region – local hotels, event space, restaurants, attractions and businesses. Doubletree by Hilton Seattle Airport will host a conference of educational seminars and industry exhibits offering resources to attendees.

An average military reunion involves direct payments to the hotel of approximately $40,000, with an economic impact of approximately $500,000 on the host community.  As a niche market, these military reunions add well over $6 billion dollars to tourism within the United States.
