Seattle, July 22, 2004: Seattle Southside (the Cities of SeaTac, Tukwila, and Kent) is proud to host the 2004 Western Sr. Softball Championships on July 23-July 27. Sixty-two teams from West of the Mississippi River will be competing this year, a 20% increase in attendance from the previous year.
This premiere senior softball sporting event is expected to bring more than $6 million into Seattle Southside. More than 2,000 players and their families will be coming, representing 9 states and Canada. The economic impact that this event will bring to the area is tremendous and Seattle Southside is pleased to be the topic of conversation on diamonds across America.
Games will be played at Starfire Sports Softball Complex (formerly known as Fort Dent) in Tukwila from 9 am - 4 pm from Friday - Sunday and at Russell Road Softball Complex in Kent from
9 am - 4 pm from Friday - Tuesday. There is no admission and the public is welcome to attend.
Teams will compete in several divisions, including 50-plus, 55-plus, 60-plus, 65-plus and 70-plus age divisions, and in skill divisions such as AA, AAA, Major and the top division, Major-Plus.
Winners of the Western National Championships play the winners of the Eastern National Championships (held in Syracuse, New York from Aug. 2-8) in the US National Championships. The US National finals will be in Las Vegas in September.
