Seattle, May 28, 2009: Seattle Southside Visitor Services, the official tourism department for the cities of Tukwila, SeaTac, Kent and Des Moines, is pleased to announce that Ashley Comar has joined the Tourism and Marketing Department as the Marketing Communications Coordinator.

“We are thrilled to have Ashley join our team and help advance the Seattle Southside Visitor Center at such a dynamic time in our community,” said Katherine Kertzman, Program Director. “She brings an invaluable skill set that perfectly compliments our vibrant team.”

As the Marketing Communications Coordinator, Comar will be responsible for essential marketing functions such as maintaining web sites and newsletters, designing and implementing marketing programs and media plans, and coordinating and overseeing regional tourism and marketing special events. She will also serve as a liaison between City departments, the media, the public and other agencies.

“I am excited to join the team and particularly eager to contribute to the efforts of the latest tourism campaigns,” says Comar, former Marketing Coordinator for mobile technology company, Perlego Systems, Inc. “This time of rapid expansion within our community provides a unique opportunity to enhance the local business environment and I am delighted to embark on this new journey.”

With a Communication Studies degree from the University of Puget Sound, Comar understands how to tailor messages to specific clients and businesses and create economically successful campaigns. Comar has several years of professional marketing experience including event management, material and content creation, web design and maintenance, and media relations. She also serves on the Marketing Committee for Washington Women’s Employment and Education.
