SEATTLE (February  9, 2012)– Seattle Southside Visitor Services, the official tourism department for the Cities of Tukwila, SeaTac, Kent and Des Moines, announces Roger McCracken, private developer, as the 2012 Seattle Southside Tourism Ambassador.

“Roger has been a strong advocate of our organization since it was created nearly ten years ago,” said Katherine Kertzman, Executive Director of Seattle Southside Visitor Services. “He is dedicated to his community and is a strong supporter of tourism. He understands that travel spending is crucial to local economic development. 

McCracken began in the restaurant business at a young age and eventually participated in the construction of many of Seattle’s recognizable structures. His company, McCracken & Associates, operates out of offices near Pike Place Market and he owns the Master Park lots near the SeaTac airport. Along with his enthusiasm for business he also has a heart for philanthropy. He has served on Koniag Education Foundation’s Board since 2007 and helps students stay in school and reduce drop-out rates. As a member of the SeaTac Hotel/Motel Advisory Committee and he helped create Seattle Southside more than ten years ago.

The Tourism Ambassador program was developed as part of the Why Tourism Matters campaign created by Visit Seattle and Washington State Destination Marketing Organization.
