KENT, Wash. – July 12, 2006 – Lois LaFond and The Rockadiles bring their high-spirited jams to Kent’s Summer Concert Series on Thursday, July 26. Kids dance the afternoon away as they hear the fun grooves of this hot group that plays original modern music for young children. Don’t forget to arrive early to participate in a free hands-on project for kids led by Meredith Doll of Pequeño Jardin Inc. The project begins at 11:00 a.m. and runs through 11:45 a.m. This concert is the third “Wednesday Picnic Performance” at Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park, 742 E. Titus St. This unforgettable show begins at noon and ends at 1 p.m.
When Lois LaFond could not find the kind of music she liked for kids, she decided to make her own. This was the beginning of the reggae, salsa, blues, ballads, rock and roll, and African grooves that make Lois LaFond and The Rockadiles so unique and fun. Many of the refrains celebrate diversity and promote self esteem; many others are just plain silly! The result is an enchanting tapestry of sound from around the world to spice up lunchtime at Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park.
“Wednesday Picnic Performances”, like all of Kent Parks’ summer concerts, are free to the public. For more information on the Summer Concert Series and other cultural events, please call (253) 856-5050 or visit www.kentarts.com. The Summer Concert Series is presented by Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services and the Kent Arts Commission.
