The day of Tukwila's first Procession of the Species Parade draws near. Please join in this celebration of awareness of all those with whom we share our fragile environment. On May 14th at 8:30 AM we'll gather at the Tukwila Community Center, then parade along the banks of the Duwamish River, returning to the Community Center for the beginning of the 5th annual free Backyard Wildlife Fair.
Come dressed as a favorite NW animal. Costumes will range from the sublimely simple to over-the-top elaborate. Drummers and drumming groups are especially encouraged to parade with us and provide the heartbeat of the celebration. Handheld Salmon Shakers will be provided to all.
For inspiration drop in on an ongoing costume and mask making workshop 9 AM - 3 PM on Sat May 7th at the Tukwila Community Center. This informal drop-in workshop can provide you with the basics, or just be a time to create your vision and share ideas with other creative folks. Bring your unused crafting materials - they may be just what someone else needs.
