Soloist and concertmaster John Kim presents Saint-Saens Violin Concerto #3

SEATTLE, Wash. — April 14, 2005 — Northwest Symphony Orchestra will present its Season Finale concert Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 8:00pm at the Highline Performing Arts Center. The program promises brilliant violin soloist work from the orchestra’s own John Kim, Concertmaster, playing Saint-Saens, as well as the thrilling Shostakovich Symphony #10, all under the baton of Music Director Anthony Spain. The evening’s concert is set to include:

§ Northwest Fanfare for Orchestra — Clement Reid

§ Violin Concerto #3 — Camille Saint-Saens

§ Symphony #10 — Dmitri Shostakovich

Soloist John Kim was appointed Concertmaster of Northwest Symphony Orchestra in 2003. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the White House among many venues domestically and abroad.

Now in its eighteenth season, Northwest Symphony Orchestra has performed to local, regional, and national acclaim. The orchestra has performed an unprecedented 75 compositions of Northwest composers and has garnered six national awards for “Programming of Contemporary Music” from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The Orchestra has been featured repeatedly on National Public Radio and has recorded two compact disks. Dr. Anthony Spain is Music Director.
