Museum of Flight hosts Personal Courage Wing Media Preview, Gala Procession and Grand Opening
WHAT: Exclusive Media Preview, Wings of Heroes Gala Procession and the Grand Opening of the Personal Courage Wing
The new wing features 28 restored or replicated World War I and World War II fighters. Exhibits highlight the personal stories of those who designed, built, flew and maintained the aircraft used during the world wars.

June 4, 11 a.m. Media Preview -- Members of the media are invited to an exclusive preview of the Museum’s new Personal Courage Wing beginning at 11:30 a.m. Museum staff, Medal of Honor recipients, American Fighter Aces, Flying Tigers, Tuskegee Airmen and members of the Women Airforce Service Pilots will be available for interviews.
June 5, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wings of Heroes Gala -- In the early evening, VIP guests will be viewing the Personal Courage Wing for the very first time. Media will be able to cover the Procession of Honor with military fanfare that opens the Gala at 7 p.m. featuring the American Fighter Aces, Flying Tigers, Tuskegee Airmen and Medal of Honor recipients. There also will be a special moment of silence and “Taps” for those who gave their lives during the world wars. (Guests will then be served dinner before music and dancing to the Harry James Orchestra, with special guest Frank Sinatra Jr.)
June 6, 9:30 a.m. The Personal Courage Wing Grand Opening -- The new wing will officially open to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:50 a.m. A formal ceremony with donors, special guests, American Fighter Aces and other military dignitaries will follow at 11:00 a.m. U.S. Army Gen. John M. Shalikashvili (former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony.
