Drivers headed to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport now have an even more convenient option for parking. The Port of Seattle has converted the sky bridge level of the aiport garage from daily to hourly parking.
"This puts our busiest parking area on the most convenient floor of the garage," said Michael Civitelli, airport operations manager. "Drivers and travelers can now get out of their cars and walk directly across the sky bridge into the main terminal."
Access to the new hourly area, located on the garage's fourth floor, will be via a special lane at the regular garage entrance. Drivers should follow the signs to parking, rather than proceed to the baggage claim roadway.
"Hourly parking is an even better option for dropping off or picking up passengers," Civitelli added. "Simply take your travelers to the fourth floor of the garage and avoid getting stuck in a backup at the terminal's curbside."
The airport charges only $2 for parking 30 minutes or less in the garage.
By moving hourly parking, the aiport was able to meet the rental car companies need for additional space in the garage. The rental car return route, utilized mostly by out of town travelers, also has been simplified.
Daily parking, for travelers leaving their cars while they are out of town, will be available on the fifth through eighth floors of the garage. There is plenty of space for daily parking, though the best bet for finding a space quickly during the busy summer travel months is going straight to the seventh or eighth floors.
Civitelli urges drivers headed to the airport to watch the roadway signage for guidance to either the hourly parking or rental car return areas.
