Contemporary Christian Rockers, Third Day, to Perform at Puyallup Fair Sept. 21

Puyallup, WA – March 3, 2006 – With the hit single, “Cry Out to Jesus” currently at #2 and rising on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart – GRAMMY Award-winning contemporary Christian band, Third Day, continues to garner a tremendous fan base after a decade-long career. A sampling of hits from one of today’s most popular Christian rock groups includes, “Come Together,” “My Hope Is You,” “I’ve Always Loved You,” and “You Are So Good To Me.”

Third Day is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at the Puyallup Fair’s 2006 Columbia Bank Concert Series. Tickets go on sale at all Ticketmaster locations on Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. Ticket prices are $15 reserved infield plus Fair admission, and free grandstand seating plus Fair admission. Free grandstand is based on first come, first seated, and no tickets are issued.

Third Day’s eighth album, Wherever You Are, was released in November 2005, with the underlying message that even in the darkest moments, there is hope. The CD features their latest smash hit, “Cry Out To Jesus,” which is nominated in the prestigious Song of the Year category for the 37th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Awards. In 2005, Third Day received the Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year at the GMA’s, as well as Special Event Album of the Year for The Passion of the Christ: Songs. The band recently received its fourth consecutive GRAMMY nomination for the Live Wire CD, on the heels of winning its second GRAMMY Award at last year's ceremonies.

The band’s conception occurred in 1991 when Mac Powell and Mark Lee started work together in Atlanta. By the following year, Third Day had released its self-titled debut. Over a decade later, the band has amassed a list of impressive accomplishments, including 22 No.1 radio singles and sales of more than five million albums, with RIAA certifications including one Platinum record, one Platinum DVD, and five Gold records. They have garnered 23 career Dove Awards, two Grammy Awards (from five nominations), two consecutive American Music Award nods, developed an historic partnership with Chevrolet, and developed a touring record second to none by playing for audiences reaching into the millions.
