Kent, Wash. - November 14, 2004 - The Kent Arts Commission presents an exhibition of color photography by Janet Wooten at Kent Arts Commission Gallery, Kent City Hall 4th Floor, 220 Fourth Ave South. The exhibit opens December 1 and runs through December 30, 2004. The gallery is open to the public Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., except national holidays. For information, contact the Kent Arts Commission at firstname.lastname@example.org or (253) 856-5050. Further information and an image of the artist work can be viewed at www.ci.kent.wa.us/arts.
Janet Wooten has exhibited locally and her work is included in the City of Kent Portable Art Collection. She is the recipient of a 2004 Canterbury Arts Festival Purchase Award. Wooten's photography focuses on the imagery of the worn, decayed and aged that blurs the usual distinction between natural and man-made objects. The exhibit includes interpretations of corroded metal, old machinery and aging flowers. With this body of work, the artist shows that beauty does not depend on youth or perfection.
