25 Days of Holiday Activities Week 2

Day 8: Thanksmas
An annual tradition of friends gathering for a holiday potluck meal. The hostess supplied the turkey and everyone brought a side dish and a white elephant gift. The meal was fantastic and finished off with a peanut butter pie and an apple pie. After some fun games and the gift exchange, I went home with a Freemont Troll Chia which will make a lovely addition in the garden.

Day 9: King Tut Exhibit
This Pacific Science Center exhibit will not be around much longer. Ending January 6th, this amazing piece of history will be leaving the US for good to make its permanent residence in Egypt. The statues and jewelry and the history of King Tut's tomb and its discovery are wonderfully displayed. I suggest using the audio recording to hear the voice of Harrison Ford and the actual archeologist that discovered the tomb as you walk through the galleries.

Day 10: Photo with Santa
For some families a photo with the jolly old guy is an annual tradition. It is a new tradition for our Seattle Southside family and one I am sure will continue in the future. We posed with St. Nick at Salty's but there are many other locations all over the area like Westfield Southcenter, Kent Station and Nordstrom at Pacific Place that are great for families.

Day 11: Jazz Alley Concert
Dimitrio's Jazz Alley has been a West Coast 'must' for all the towering figures in the world of jazz. It is world renowned for its great lineups and intimate atmosphere. Groove for Thought, an a capella group featured on NBC's The Sing Off was in town for a show and they were a hit! They sang some jazz, some pop and some holiday music and it was all wonderful and so was the food!

Day 12: Nutcrackers and Brunch at Salty's
Salty's
has a huge display of giant nutcrackers, all uniquely painted, on surrounding the deck. The tin man was my favorite! Enjoy looking at these huge dudes as well as the stunning Puget Sound when you attend Salty's Sunday brunch. It might be hard to focus on anything other than the chocolate fountain, endless crab legs, make your own Bloody Mary bar, all kinds of seafood, carving station, chicken and waffles, crepes, and desserts, desserts, desserts!

Day 13: Cookie Decorating
Sugar cookies dancing around your head instead of sugar plum fairies? Check out all of these cookies decorated by many different people. You can see all the creativity that went into most of the design and some that are just good for eating. The bottom left corner has some Seattle themed cookies like a Space Needle, a Washington state evergreen, sushi, a ferry boat and Mount Rainier.

Day 14: Battle in Seattle
Every year for the last 10 years, Gonzaga plays a game in Seattle at Key Arena in December. This year they took on Kansas State. The game started off close but the Zags soon pulled away and won 68-52. The arena was overflowing with fans in navy and red and the student section was nuts the entire game.
